Interview with Maria Zvereva,
President's Volunteer Service Award Recipient

2021, Gold
Maria
Zvereva
Chappaqua, New York

Why do you volunteer?
My goal in life is to make a contribution to society. I want to create actionable change
and help those in need. Volunteering allows me to realize my goal and gives me a sense
of purpose. It is also beneficial for my personal growth, as I am exposed to diversity and
improve my social skills.

Why did you join Youth4Better?
I joined Youth4Better because it provided a platform for me to support others and create
my own project. I started by joining the Tutoring Service Campaign because I wanted to
make education accessible and share my resources. Now, I am starting my own project,
Health4Better.

Help UNICEF Protect Children in Ukraine

Why it is important for us?
According to press release UNICEF USA
(www.unicefusa.org/press/releases/nearly-37-million-children
-displaced-worldwide-%E2%80%93-highest-number-ever-recorded)

"The war in Ukraine has caused more than 2 million children to flee the country and displaced 3 million internally since February. ... Uprooted children – whether refugee, asylum seeker or internally displaced – can face grave risks to their well-being and safety. This is particularly true for the hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied or separated children who are at heightened risk of trafficking, exploitation, violence and abuse."

What we can do?
We decided to start fundraiser to help UNICEF ensure that Ukraine`s children have access to safe water, nutrition, health care and education
